The S.A.L.T. Programme is open to both men and women who are struggling with behaviours around relationships, romantic attachments, and unhealthy or compulsive sexual behaviours. It is designed to support adults engaging in any sexual activity that negatively impacts their life. Concerns may include compulsive sexual behaviour, patterns of unhealthy relationships, or other behaviours affecting personal well-being.
This therapy is based on the work of Paula Hall, a leading expert in compulsive sexual behaviour in the UK.
How it Works:
Initial Assessment: A one-to-one assessment is conducted to understand your concerns and goals.
Psychoeducation Programme: A 10-week programme follows, designed to help participants understand their behaviours and identify strategies for change.
Therapy Options: After completing the programme, you enter group therapy with dedicated, trained, and professional counsellors.
The S.A.L.T. Programme helps regulate sexual behaviour and supports individuals in accepting their feelings about themselves, aiming to eliminate shame and isolation.
The programme addresses concerns such as:
Sexual behaviours with a negative impact on your life: Struggling to manage sexual actions that interfere with your personal, professional, or social life.
Compulsive pornography use: Spending significant time viewing pornography in a way that disrupts daily life or relationships.
Patterns of unhealthy or harmful relationships: Repeatedly finding yourself in relationships that are unbalanced, damaging, or unfulfilling.
Difficulty with Boundaries: Feeling unable to say "no" or set healthy limits in relationships, resulting in feeling overwhelmed or taken advantage of.
Over-Attachment in Romantic Relationships: Becoming overly dependent on a partner for emotional security or self-worth, leading to unhealthy dynamics.
Fear of Abandonment: Persistent anxiety about being left by a partner, causing clingy or controlling behaviours.
Unbalanced Need for Approval or Affection: Constantly seeking validation or affection to feel valued, which may drive unhealthy behaviours.
Avoiding Emotional Intimacy: Difficulty opening up to others or avoiding close emotional connections out of fear of vulnerability.
Shame or Guilt Around Sexual Desires: Struggling with feelings of shame or guilt about your sexual behaviours, preferences, or desires.
Self-Esteem Issues Linked to Sexual Behaviours: Feeling your sexual actions define your self-worth or struggling with a negative self-image as a result of past behaviours.
Emotional Regulation Difficulties: Using sexual behaviours to cope with stress, anxiety, or other challenging emotions.
These issues can also affect other areas of your life, including relationships, friendships, work, or even lead to substance misuse.
Group Therapy
S.A.L.T. is primarily delivered through group therapy, with groups separated by gender to create a safe, supportive environment. The group setting fosters trust and provides a space to explore and address challenges alongside others who share similar experiences.
