How do I use menstrual cups?

Putting a cup in your vagina is more comfortable if you’re relaxed. It can take some getting used to, and you might need a few tries to get comfortable putting it in.

  • Wash your hands and get into a comfortable position.

  • You can squat, put one leg up, or sit with your knees apart.

  • Fold the cup so that it is not as wide. Slide it into your vagina with your fingers.

  • Each cup comes with instructions on how to fold or squeeze it and how to place the cup. Some cups go high up into your vagina, towards your cervix. Other cups are placed in the lower part of your vagina. If you feel uncomfortable after putting your cup in, take it out and try again.

  • You can leave your cup in for 8 - 12 hours, or until is is full.

  • To remove a menstrual cup, most cups will have a stem that you pull on.
